The Aria is a cable knit cowl trimmed in fur and is the perfect winter accessory. The cabled mid section is knit flat and the fur trim is added by picking up stitches around once it is sewn together.

The day my mom got faux fur yarn into the shop was a happy one.
If I’m being totally honest- I basically begged her to get it.  A few weeks earlier she had a sample out and I did some sort of simultaneous clap and squeel thing as soon as I saw it.  She had a few (alot) of apprehensions.  While the luxe, squishy yarn was amazing to snuggle into, she was unsure exactly how to knit with it and what it could make.  I proceeded to show her the ample pictures and patterns of blankets, scarves and headbands made from it throughout the internet.  I even created a Pinterest Board just for all the amazing patterns I found. Check it out here (8) Pinterest  She finally caved but made me promise to come up with a few of my own patterns for the shop.

As much as I really love this yarn, I didn’t necessarily want my entire accessory made out of it.  I wanted to use it as more of an accent.  I created a cowl with a simple loose cable pattern worked flat and then added the fur around the edges once it was sewn together. The fluffy wool is perfect for me to bury my face in when the Pennsylvania wind gets to be too much.

I used KFI Collection Furreal yarn and Ella Rae Chunky Merino Superwash but any faux fur and chunky yarn combination can be substituted.

Because the cowl is knit flat, I used a provisional cast on and finished with the kitchener stitch to make it seamless.  If you do not feel comfortable with either of those things you can just do a regular cast on and sew the two edges of the cowl when the cable section is finished.  Both ways will look great!

The finished cowl measures approx 26 inches around and 12 inches tall but is easily adjustable to make longer or shorter.
